Okay, so in this tutorial I'm going to be teaching you how to make a nice-looking graphic (avatar/sig/wallpaper/whatever) out of a simple black-and-white image. It's only my second tutorial, so bare with me, people. First, the usual disclaimer. Please, do not be a retard and copy this tutorial exactly. Get your own image, play around with cropping and colors, whatever. Don't copy my exact graphic. That would be terribly unshiny of you. Firstly, get your base. Prepare any way you like. I will be using This image of Syd Barrett from Pink Floyd. Duplicate your base once and set the layer to screen. It should look something like this, depending on your image: Now, go to Layer > New adjustment layer > Curves. Match your settings to mine: Set the curves layer to Burn, opacity 100. You can also lower the opacity of your screen layer or delete it altogether, it's whatever you prefer. It should look similar to this: Create a new layer, fill it with the color black, and set it to Hue, opacity 100. It now should resemble this: Create another new layer; and take a round brush that has a soft circumference, in any color you like. I chose blue, but you can choose whatever suits your mood/flow/chi/energy/political party/religious beliefs. Put a spot anywhere on the picture you like. Set that layer to screen. For me, this resulted: Now just add any text or brushes you like, and you're done! I chose to add no brushes, but I did put the text "crazydiamond" in the font Lane - Narrow. My finished product was this: Feedback?

Okay, shweet.
It's funny, I used to hate writing tutorials, then people would see my graphics and be all like "ZOMG TEACH ME THAT RIGHT NAOW!" and I started writing a few. Now I'm addicted to writing them.

Tutorials always help, no matter how good you are at graphic design. There's always gonna be somebody out there better than you writing tutorials.
